The United States Pilates Association™ (U.S.P.A.™) honors the legacy of Joseph Pilates' teachings, mind/body wellnesss philosophy, and is committed to preserving and promoting his original message of vibrant health, quality of life, and his unwavering dedication to excellence.
The U.S.P.A.™ is home of the New York Pilates Studio® Teacher Certification Program and provides Teacher Training, Certification and Continuing Education in Authentic Pilates™, as well as Authentic Pilates™ Education to the public and private sectors.
The New York Pilates Studio® Teacher Certification
Program, started in November 1992, is the first. and oldest
Pilates professional training program in the world. With over 1000 graduates worldwide, its message of excellence in
training and education stands tall. The copyrighted Teacher
Certification Manual used exclusively by this Program was
created to ensure a comprehensive formula for translation
of the Authentic Pilates™ system of exercises to the student
or “apprentice,” and it has remained the hallmark of the
New York Pilates Studio® Teacher Certification program
today. U.S.P.A.™ principals David Freeman, Brett Howard,
and Catherine Cuzzone collectively possess over 30 years
experience in Authentic Pilates™. The U.S.P.A.™ also
conducts Joseph H. Pilates Archival Seminars using exclusive
footage and photos taken from the Joseph Pilates Archives.
In addition to Teacher Certification and Education, the U.S.P.A.™ is working on new outreach programs which will include public schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and specialized programs for the elderly, disabled, and learning challenged populations. Joseph Pilates envisioned that his methodology would benefit people of all ages and all body types.
